Penelope J. Corfield
Emeritus Professor in History at Royal Holloway, London University; Visiting Professor & Strategic Research Advisor, School of History, Classics & Archaeology, Newcastle University UK; and Vice-President of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.

Penelope Corfield is a lecturer and writer, with special research interests in urban, social and cultural history - and the relationship of History and Time. She graduated from Oxford and the LSE; and made her career in London University, punctuated by visiting fellowships in England (Oxford) and around the world, including Australia, Hungary, Japan, Romania and the USA.
In 2008 she was an appointed member on the History panel for the University-wide Research Assessment Exercise, about which she has published her considered criticisms.
Penelope Corfield's partnership with Charles Harvey and Edmund Green in the London Electoral History project celebrates not only her research focus upon urban history but also her past experience as a Councillor in the London Borough of Wandsworth.
